POWER DOWN DC is a 4-month building-to-building education series and utility reduction competition between apartment buildings to reduce the use of energy and water.

Residents compete as a team with their whole building to beat their past building usage by 5% and beat other buildings in the competition by making the greatest reduction overall. To achieve these reductions, each month of the competition has focused education events  with individual and group activities to reinforce new behaviors.

POWER DOWN DC is sponsored in part by the District of Columbia’s Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) and implemented by Steven Winter Associates (SWA).
