A healthy community promotes positive physical and emotional health by ensuring access to proper nutrition, opportunities for regular exercise and fitness, and outlets for social connectedness to one’s community.   • The Center for Active Design has established itself as a leader in the fight to reverse obesity through design of our communities, worklplaces, and homes. Check out their collection of design tools and resources.
  • The Healthy Building Network is a leader in the fast-growing field of exploring impacts of building materials and practices on human health.  In fall 2015, they helped to launch the Healthy Materials Lab at Parsons The New School for Design.
  • The WELL Building Standard® (WELL) is the world’s first building standard focused exclusively on human health and wellness. It marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research.
  • EPA’s Indoor Air Plus is a voluntary program to recognize builders of ENERGY STAR homes and multifamily buildings for addressing occupant health and indoor environmental quality as rigorously as they address energy efficiency.
